Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
Web
Accessibility Initiative (WAI) from W3C
is to help and provide guidelines to webmasters in the Web
development process so that people with disabilities are
able to browse their sites without any difficulties.
People who have no eyesight or low vision or who have problem
navigating or who can't use mouse find it very difficult to
browse websites which are not designed keeping their special
needs in mind. To keep their special needs in mind during
the web development process, W3C
drafted certain guidelines- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Similar to WCAG in principles are Authoring Tool Accessibility
Guidelines (ATAG) and the User Agent Accessibility Guidelines
(UAAG) from W3C meant to bring a common platform for internet
browring experience.
WAC guidelines are baicially
list of 14 guidelines which must be followed for accessibilty
needs in a design. Each Guideline has several checkpoints
under it each of which are assigned a priority
.
